When should we use Volume Types?

Within an Availability Zone, an admin user can define as many different volume types as needed. Volume Types define the characteristics of a volume, typically mapping back to a set of capabilities of the back-end storage driver to be used for the volume. Typical examples of volume types are: “SSD”, “Block Storage”, “Ephemeral”, “Backups”, and so on. Use volume types to help users choose the appropriate storage for their workload.

To set up certain Volume Types within the Availability Zone, your Administrator may need to work with with our Support team (support@metacloud.com) to connect the platform to a new storage infrastructure, such as adding SolidFire or NAS.
