When should we use Volume Types?

Within an Availability Zone, an admin user can define as many different volume types as needed. Volume Types define the characteristics of a volume, typically mapping back to a set of capabilities of the back-end storage driver to be used for the volume. Typical examples of volume types are: “SSD”, “Block Storage”, “Ephemeral”, “Backups”, and so on. Use volume types to help users choose the appropriate storage for their workload.

Note: To set up certain Volume Types within the Availability Zone, your Administrator may need to work with with our Support team (support@metacloud.com) to connect the platform to a new storage infrastructure, such as adding SolidFire or NAS.
